- El film Melaza, dirigido por el cubano Carlos Lechuga y producido por La 5ta Avenida, tendrá su estreno internacional en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Rotterdam, que se celebrará en esa ciudad holandesa del 23 de enero al 3 de febrero próximos.
La película tomará parte de la sección “Bright Future”.
Carlos Lechuga es uno de los realizadores jóvenes cubanos más reconocidos en los últimos años. Con su cortometraje Los bañistas (2010), ganó el premio Coral de corto o mediometraje en el 32 Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano y el Hugo de Plata de cortometrajes, en Chicago.
Melaza recibió el apoyo de los fondos de apoyo cinematográfico del Fondo Hubert Bals asociado al Festival de Rotterdam, del Programa Ibermedia así como de Cinergia en las etapas de producción y posproducción.
La película tuvo su premiere mundial en el último Festival del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de La Habana en diciembre pasado y su premiere norteamericana ya fue confirmada para el próximo Festival Internacional de Cine de Miami MIFF 2013, que este año llega a su 30a edición. - The film Melaza (Molasses) by Cuban director Carlos Lechuga will have its international premiere during the upcoming Rotterdam International Film Festival which takes place from January 23rd till February 3rd. The film will be part of the “Bright Future” section.
Carlos Lechuga is one of the most significant representatives of the indepependent cinema movement, as repported by The New York Times recent article. His short film “Los bañistas” (2010), won the Short Film First prize at Havana Film Festival and the Silver Hugo in Chicago.
Melaza – Lechuga’s debut feature film- received the support of Rotterdam’s Hubert Bals Fund, as well as Ibermedia and Cinergia Funds.
The film had its world premiere at Havana Film Fest last December and its US PREMIERE is scheduled for this year’s 30th anniversary edition of MIFF in Miami, where Lechuga’s film will compete in the Lexus Ibero-American Opera Prima Competition category.
